Molly Barnum Cigal, 69, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2015 at her residence. Molly was born January 4, 1946 at Lockport, N.Y., a daughter of the late Fred and Shirley Woodside Barnum. Molly received her B.S. in Education in 1967 from State University of New York at Brockport, N.Y. and her M.S. in Education in 1969, from State University of New York at Buffalo, N. Y.She began her teaching career, a vocation she truly loved, at Niagara Falls with first grade students.She also taught at Mt. Vernon, Ind. and because of her disability, retired in 1993 from Rayon School after teaching 16 years in the Wood County School System. Molly was a member of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.She loved traveling and especially enjoyed her excursions to the Caribbean and to Western Europe. She had actively participated in the sports she loved, especially women's tennis and racquetball in which she won a trophy in 1982. Molly valued her many, many friendships going back to her high school and college days. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gregory A. Cigal; her sister, Sue Holmes(Walter) of Ransomville, N.Y.; a niece, Kelli Holmes Putney (Daniel) and their children, Katie and Jack; a nephew, Kurt Holmes (Gina) and their children, Alexandra and Fred; a sister-in-law, Linda Cigal Girard (Yvon) and their children, Monique and Alexander; and a brother-in-law, Christopher Cigal (Laurie) and their children, Andrew, Dennis and Stephen Cigal (godson), his wife, Melinda and their daughter, Wren. In addition to her parents, Molly was preceded in death by a sister, Judith Barnum. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 903 Charles Street, Parkersburg, W.Va.The Reverend Marjorie Bevans will officiate.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday and from 9 to 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the Vaughan Funeral Home, 1010 Murdoch Avenue, Parkersburg, W.Va.
