Vicki J. Matheny

Vicki Jean Matheny, 95, of Belpre passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at her residence. She was born February 26, 1921 at Long Bottom, Ohio, a daughter of the late Sherley Ross and Grace Rebecca Parks Swan. Vicki was a 1944 graduate of the Camden-Clark School of Nursing and was retired as head nurse from Elkem Metals, formerly Union Carbide.She was a member of the American Legion Aux. and the Nurse’s Association. She is survived by her caregivers, Monroe and Debbie Modesitt and good friends, Cathy and Frank Bargeloh. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kester Duane Matheny, in 1984; her sister and brother-in-law, June S. and Eugene H. Whytsell; and her beloved dog, Jack. In keeping with Vicki’s wishes, there will be no public services and she will be interred in Evergreen North Cemetery.Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vaughan Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Memorials are preferred to the Humane Society of Parkersburg, P.O. Box 392, Parkersburg, WV 26102.
