Sylvia NaDeen Freeland, 98, of Parkersburg, West Virginia was called home and welcomed into the kingdom of heaven on February 28, 2024. Sylvia was born May 23, 1925, in Ellenboro, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Orval Blaine Rymer and Fay Drucilla Brannon Rymer formerly of Ellenboro, West Virginia.
She was a graduate of Harrisville High school in 1945.
In 1946, Sylvia married Robert "Bob" Freeland and together they had two sons Lyle M. Freeland and Stanley D. Freeland.
Before having children, she worked at the Babe Ruth Factory in Chicago, and the Garment Factory and Glass Factory in Ritchie County, she then became a homemaker.
Sylvia’s Christian faith was the unwavering foundation of her life. She was a faithful woman of God who loved the Lord, her family, and her church more than anything in this world. She was a long-time member at Christian Life Center of Parkersburg, WV where she loved to serve and worship with her brothers and sisters in Christ. She was a pillar of strength and prayer warrior holding God’s truth in her heart, always willing to go to battle in prayer for friends and family. She was passionate about sharing the love and word of God with others. She had one goal in life and that was to ensure that her sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren knew the importance of having a life altering relationship with Jesus. Now that Sylvia has passed on into the arms of the Lord, her physical life is over, but she is now walking the streets of gold worshiping her Savior for eternity just like she always dreamed of.
Sylvia will always be remembered for her kind and gentle nature, love for the Lord, and generous heart. She compiled a wealth of detailed family stories that she would pass on to generations while preserving family values by sharing her wisdom, experiences and memories with others around her.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother; her five siblings, Evalena Moneypenny, Carl Rymer, Scotty Rymer, Naomi Shepler, Nedra Paugh; and grandchildren Trenton Freeland and Alec Freeland.
Those left behind to cherish and carry on her memory include her children, Lyle (Dee) Freeland of SC and Stanley (Jane) Freeland of Newark, WV; eight grandchildren, Michelle (Jeff) Roberts, Jeff (Dawn) Freeland, Heather (Chad) Hannah, Dallas (Renee) Freeland, Rob (Angie) Tefft, Kristy (Jason) Dodd, Thomas (Ash) Freeland, Ashley (Lyle) Hickman; eighteen great-grandchildren, Kirsten (Ryan) Gillian, Ryleigh Hannah, Morgyn Freeland, Gavyn Freeland, Brayden Freeland, Bailey Freeland, Maddie Freeland, Bella Freeland, Maximus Freeland, Kandice Floyd, Colton Floyd, Katlyn Floyd, Michael Maher, Jordan (Breanna) Tefft, Zach (Rachael) Tefft, Brittany Tefft, Bleiz Freeland, Braxton Hickman; and five great-great-grandchildren, Koen Tefft, Talon Tefft, Lilliana Tefft, August Tefft, and Callan Gillian.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Love & Care Assisted Living for enhancing her quality of life in her final years and a special thanks to Eagle Point and Elizabeth Care Center for the exceptional care they gave her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Christian Life Center in Parkersburg on April 13, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
She will be laid to rest next to her father, mother and brother in West Union, WV.
