Suzanne "Suzie" Watson

February 28, 1950 — December 15, 2015

Suzanne "Suzie" Watson died December 15, 2015 following surgery at Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, Ohio. Suzie was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on February 28, 1950. Suzie was a long time resident of Wood County, West Virginia, where she was currently residing. She was preceded in death by her father, Cyrus "Cy" Watson, and her mother, Ruth Lehmann Watson. She is survived by cousins, Bob and Pat Wottrich and three other cousins in Houston, Texas; her good friends, Christine Predragovich, Joyce Ancrile, Debra Tuttle, John Sheets, Betty Somerville, Julia Bell, Hal Casey, George Zivkovich, and Phil Postlewait, Jr. With her parents active in the Masons, Suzie became a Rainbow Girl. Later she performed at the Parkersburg Actors Guild and served backstage in various capacities. Suzie graduated from Parkersburg High School and continued her education at Texas A&M and Alderson Broaddus College. Suzie worked in the law profession for nearly 40 years, starting as an investigator in the Wood County Prosecutor's office under prosecutor Joseph M. Brown. She then worked as his legal secretary for several decades. After Joe's retirement, she served as a paralegal for George Zivkovich and other local attorneys. She also taught several law courses at Mountain State College. When the area oil business rebounded, she became an abstractor for several energy companies. Suzie enjoyed reading so much that she became a tutor in the adult literacy program in order to help someone learn to read. She also had a fun loving side proven by the fact she joined a clown club with a colorful wig and a funny outfit. She was compassionate. She adopted feral cats, had them spayed or neutered, then gave them shelter, food, and water. Suzie enjoyed gardening. She raised herbs and tomatoes as well as tender indoor plants. She became a master gardener and helped maintain the landscape at the welcome center in Williamstown. Needless to say, she was a gourmet cook and attended cooking workshops including a national one held at Disneyworld. Suzie loved to travel, especially to the ocean. She vacationed as often as possible in Florida, visiting friends. She also traveled by ocean liner, taking several cruises with her mother. Suzie enjoyed crafting and made beautiful Christmas ornaments that she gave to friends each year. Friends are planning a celebration of her life to be held in the near future.
