Steve N. Pittman, 60, formerly of Toledo, Ohio passed away in Parkersburg, W.Va. on Friday, March 28, 2014 after a brief battle with cancer.He was born October 2, 1953 and was a graduate of Parkersburg, High School. Steve was a devout member of Hope Baptist Church in Toledo, Ohio.His faith was very important to him, as demonstrated by his participation in two mission trips to Haiti and Europe.He was also a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local #565 of Parkersburg for 38 years.He was currently employed by C.A.T.S.I. as a welder inspector for Marathon Oil in Canton, Ohio.Steve also worked for Sunoco Toledo Refinery for an extended period of time.His work and co-workers were a big part of Steve’s life. An avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed baseball, skiing and golf.Steve especially loved baseball, watching and playing.He was a member of the 1970 American Legion Post 15 WV State Championship team and the Parkersburg High School 1971 State Championship team. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Dempsey Pittman, and his sister, Debby Rogers.He is survived by his mother, Erma Pethtel of Parkersburg; three sisters, Donna (Robert) Cox of Richmond, Ky., Donita (Bill) Faehnle of Perrysburg, Ohio and Denise (Gary) Haught of Williamstown, W.Va.; a brother, Mike (Cheri) Pittman of Parkersburg, W.Va.; two nieces; and six nephews. The family sincerely thanks CCMC Hospital nursing staff, Wyngate Senior Living Community and Housecalls Hospice for their loving care. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Monday, March 31, 2014at the Vaughan Funeral Home, 1010 Murdoch Avenue, Parkersburg.Pastor Jonathan Marshall will officiate and interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg. The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
