Stephen Burl Heater, age 61, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away January 17, 2019. Mr. Heater was an avid hunter and fisherman.He was a member of the John Sevier Gun Range where he was also a Safety Officer; he was a patron member of the NRA (National Rifle Association); and a member of the Smokey Mountain Archers.He was a veteran of the United States Navy (August 1976 – January 1982), serving on the USS John F. Kennedy.He received the NAVY “E” RIBBON twice, was awarded Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Good Conduct Medal.He was a graduate of Parkersburg South High School class of 1976.He graduated from Belleview University with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Project Management.He was employed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory as a Mechanical Engineer and also had previously been employed for Hartford Steam Boiler as Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector. Stephen is preceded in death by parents, Burley Ivan and Dorla Rhodes Heater. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Whalen Heater; daughter, Kristen Michelle Heater (Daniel Rey Tillman) of Knoxville, TN; daughter, Brittany Dawn Dies (Elijah Dylan Dies) of Pittsburgh, PA; sister and brother-in-law, Dina and Michael Braniff of Parkersburg, WV.
