Sarah Medley

Sarah Hays Medley, 83, of Parkersburg passed away March 4, 2019 at her residence.Sarah was born January 21, 1936 in Marietta, Ohio, a daughter of the late Dwight K. and Dorothy Stehle Hays. She had attended Marietta College, was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and had been the Chief Procurement Officer for W.V.U. at Parkersburg.Sarah was a member of The Memorial Church of The Good Shepherd (Episcopal) where she had served on the altar guild and as a member of the choir. Sarah is survived by one daughter, Sarah Anne Morgan (Michael) of Parkersburg; three sons, David Michael Medley of Parkersburg, Dwight Patrick Medley (Amy) of Long Bottom, Ohio and Ronald Scott Medley (Carol) of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; three sisters Jocelyn W. Hays and Eleanor W. Tucker (Tom), both of Marietta and Stephanie M. Smith of Delaware, Ohio ; seven grandchildren, Melanie, Josiah, Collen, David, Nicholas, Jacob and Lorrie and husband, C.E.; three step-grandchildren, Stephanie, Holli and Nathan; three great-granddaughters, Haylee, Alexis and Syndey; five step-great grandchildren,Avery, Lola, Emma, Channing and Alyxandria and several nephews, nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death, in 1979, by her husband David F. Medley and by two grandsons, Luca Knapp and Caleb Medley and her brother-in-law, Ronald Medley. There will be no visitation. Entombment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens where a committal service will be held at the mausoleum chapel, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 2 p.m. The Reverend Arthur L. Bennett, III and The Reverend Marjorie Bevans will officiate. The family sincerely thanks the doctors and staff of ACU, CVU units and E.R. at WVU Medicine, Camden Clark Medical Center and Amedisys Hospice for the excellent care given to Sarah during her illness.
