Ruth Warren Corbitt

Ruth Warren Corbitt, 91, of Waverly, W.Va. passed away Monday, September 7, 2015.She was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., a daughter of the late Richard H. and Ruth Greasley Warren. Mrs. Corbitt was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and began studies in the nursing program at the University of Kentucky.She completed her nursing degree and graduated from the Camden Clark School of Nursing.Ruth served as a registered nurse and surgical nurse to Charles Whitaker, II, M.D. for twenty five years.Ruth was a sixty year member of the Order Eastern Star, Williamstown Chapter 58 and had been active in many Masonic organizations.She was a member of Waverly Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Corbitt is survived by one son, David W. Corbitt and wife, Janet, of Parkersburg; and three grandchildren, Justin Gregor Corbitt(Erica) of Melbourne, Australia, Dr. Caitlin Elizabeth Corbitt (Dr. Scott Gilchrist) of Bridgeport, W.Va. and Jourdan Claire Corbitt (Nic Dunfee) of San Francisco, CA. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, William N. Corbitt, in 2014. The Corbitt family extends a special thank you to TLC agency for their devoted care of Ruth over the last few years. Funeral serviceswill be conducted 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 11, 2015 at the Vaughan Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Reverend Elizabeth Campbell-Maleke officiating, assisted by Pastor Mark Houser.Service will conclude with interment in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday with Eastern Star Services at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Williamstown 1st Presbyterian Church, Humane Society of Parkersburg or Shriners Children's Hospital.
