Ruth Morgan Sheppard, 92, formerly of Vienna, passed away peacefully surrounded by family members on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Zusman Hospice in Bexley, Ohio. She was born in Keyser, West Virginia but grew up in Parkersburg, West Virginia. She was the daughter of George Thurman and Effie Virginia Mills. Ruth was a 1940 graduate of Parkersburg High School and also attended Mountain State Business College. In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Ruth was a faithful member of Wayside United Methodist Church in Vienna, where she served as church secretary for 25 years. A former Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, and church choir member, Ruth enjoyed many activities with family and friends. Through the years, she attended many local community musical and theater productions. Survivors include daughter, Angela Folio and husband, Terry, of Columbus, Ohio; son, Randall Morgan of Walterboro, South Carolina; daughter, Nancy Cales and husband, Ed, of Hinton, West Virginia; daughter, Julie Morgan and husband Bob Jones of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Douglas (Bud) Morgan and second husband, Robert Sheppard; sisters, Edna, Margaret, and Mary Jane; and brothers, George and Ronald. A celebration of Ruth's life will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at Wayside United Methodist Church, 3001 Grand Central Ave, Vienna, WV 26105 with Reverend Sandy Runion officiating. Ruth's son, Father Randy Morgan will officiate graveside services at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the church.
