Roselyn S. Mitchell

Roselyn Swain Mitchell, 91, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at her residence. She was born in Jackson County, W.Va. on June 24, 1922, the daughter of the late Lewis D. and Marie Boso Swain. Roselyn graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1940 and previously worked as a secretary for The Parkersburg News and Sentinel, the Parkersburg Rig and Reel, and E.I. Dupont.She attended Parkview U.M. Church and was a member of the Parkersburg Women's Bowling Association.Roselyn truly loved animals and had numerous pets over the course of her life, including her most recent pet, Tom,the cat and her beloved dachshund, Holly, who preceded her in death. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Elaine Mitchell of Denver, Colorado; three grandchildren, Lee, Emily and T.R. Mitchell, all of Denver. In addition to her parents, Roselyn's husband, Walter L. Mitchell, whom she married December 6, 1956 preceded her in death in 1998. The family sincerely thanks all of Roselyn's in-home caregivers, especially her primary in-home caregiver, Darla Bills. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, April 14, 2014 at the Vaughan Funeral Home, 1010 Murdoch Avenue, Parkersburg with Reverend Kenneth Nolan officiating.Services will conclude with interment in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2-5 P.M. Sunday.
