Ronald E. “Gene” Amos, 83, of Parkersburg formerly of Elizabeth, WV passed away January 12, 2017.He was born November 26, 1933 in Parkersburg to the late Ralph E. and Mary Blanche Martin Amos. Gene worked at many jobs, O’Ames, and Viscose but retired from Mineral Wells PSD in the Sewer and Water Dept.After retiring, he worked as a Greeter at Wal-Mart.Gene loved to bowl with his friends at Pike Street Lanes.He was an avid CB Talker known as the “Governor” for many years.He was a member of Rockport JOUAM Council #106 since he was 16 years old and was a member of Limestone United Methodist Church.Gene loved to be with his friends and shoot the breeze. He is survived by a brother, Larry E. Amos of Mineral Wells, two daughters, Joyce D. Amos and Cheryl Lynn (Randall) Burrows of Parkersburg, one grandson Joe Alan Burrows, four great-grandchildren and a very special friend, Mary Ruth Casto of Mineral Wells. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Helen Brand Amos, sisters Dorothy Eloise Amos, Carolyn E. Dellinger, and Lucille Full and two grandchildren. Friends and Family are invited to attend the funeral service on Monday January 16, 2017 at 11am at the Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St., Parkersburg with Pastor Rufus Hoalcraft officiating.Cremation will follow.Visitation will be on Sunday January 15, 2017 from 2-4 pm &6-8 pm and one hour prior to the funeral on Monday at the funeral home.
