Roberta Mae Skidmore

Roberta Mae Hayes Skidmore died early Tuesday March 1, 2016 at Camden Clark Medical Center, Parkersburg, WV. She was born January 24, 1932 in Parkersburg, daughter of the late Beulah Mae Hayes White and Harry Frederick Hayes and step-father Clarence white who preceded her death. She was a graduate of PHS.She married Herbert Harlan Skidmore April 9, 1950.He preceded her in death in 2002. She is survived by four sons:Gary (Patricia Kipp) of Pennsylvania; Randy (Corky Gibbs) of Parkersburg, Jerry of Parkersburg, and Neil of Washington, DC.Also surviving are grandchildren: Ken (Julio Febrer) Skidmore, Maryland, Jeremy Skidmore and Joshua Skidmore, California, Caitlin Skidmore of Virginia,Misty Skidmore Ferguson (Ben) of Texas, Andrew, Matthew, Jacob Skidmore of Maryland. Three great-grandsons Brenden, Jonah, and Elliott of Texas; brothers Paul (Jo Ann) Hayes of WV, Arnold (Cheri) White and sister Loretta Gault, of Florida. In later years she earned her LPN and worked as a nurse for several years.She was an active member of South Parkersburg Baptist Church and for over 50 years where she taught Sunday School, worked with youth, children, and womens’ missionary groups. Visitation will be held at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St Parkersburg, WV from 4-8 pm Wednesday March 2. Funeral Services will be held at 1 pm at South Parkersburg Baptist Church at 1655 Blizzard Drive on Thursday, March 3, with Rev. Joseph N. Busch officiating the family will receive visitors one hour prior to service at the church.Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to South Parkersburg Baptist Church Building Fund in her name.
