Robert Lee Reed 75 of Parkersburg, WV passed away on November 13, 2016 at Marietta Memorial Hospital, Marietta, Ohio. He was born February 5, 1941 in Dart, Ohio son of William Foster (“Coonie”) and Freda Blair Reed Bob was a serious Bible student, willing to share his knowledge, providing encouragement, and willing to answer any and all Bible trivia questions.He served as a Deacon at Oakwood Road Church of Christ Fairmont, WV 1975-1977.He served as an Elder at Oakwood Road Church of Christ Fairmont, WV 1977-1980.He served as an Elder at Weirton Heights Church of Christ Weirton, WV 1983-1983.He served as an Elder at Oakwood Road Church of Christ Fairmont, WV 1984-1997 and Deacon of the North End Church of Christ Parkersburg, WV 2005-2016. He was a 1959 graduate of Lawrence High School, Dart, Ohio where he played baseball and met his lovely wife of 52 years, Lois. He was a 1963 graduate of Glenville State College, Glenville, WV with Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Science and minor in Mathematics. He was a Math teacher at St. Clairsville High School before being employed at Mon Power. He was a 1983 graduate of the University of Steubenville, Steubenville, Ohio with Masters in Business Administration. He was a 35 year employee of Mon Power working in Fairmont, Morgantown, Fairmont, Weirton, and Fairmont, West Virginia offices as a certified professional Electrical Engineer. He was a certified professional engineer in WV and OH and served as the President of the Fairmont Chapter, West Virginia Society of Professional Engineers. After retiring from Mon Power he was an entrepreneur with ITG for 15 years, A1 Engineering for 14 years, Pickering Associates for 6 years, and PBH for 2 years.In addition, he was an instructor at Fairmont State University for 28 years and Ohio Valley University for 4 years. He served on the Board of Directors of Pleasant Ares Christian Haven and was one of the key leaders during the founding of the Christian based nursing home. He served many capacities including a member of the Board of Directors of West Virginia Christian Youth Camp.His leadership was critical in the construction of the existing camp site and facilities in Pensboro, WV. He is survived by his wife Lois Anne Congleton Reed of 52 years, a son Michael Eliot of Morgantown, WV, a daughter Heather (Gary) Blizzard of Fairmont, WV.Three granddaughters Kelsey (Rusty) Poe of Morgantown, WV, Paige Reed of Clemson, SC, Jessica Blizzard of Fairmont, WV and a great-granddaughter Katelyn Poe of Morgantown, WV. He was proceeded in death by his parents, an infant sister Norma Jean and brother William H. ‘Junior’ Reed. Bob was a sports fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers, Ohio State college football and basketball and West Virginia University college football and basketball. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, and crazy math problems.He made Saturday breakfast for the family when Mike and Heather were at home.He is known for making waffles for his granddaughters and eating them the Reed way, topped with peanut butter, syrup, and fruit pie filling. Memorial Donations should be made to the WV Christian Youth Camp, 14 Par Lane, Maidsville, WV 26541. Friends and Family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St., Parkersburg with Evangelist Steven Haguewood officiating.Burial will follow at Dalzell church of Christ Cemetery in Dalzell, Ohio.Visitation will be on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.Friends may also visit with the family one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday, November 19, 2016.
