Richard S. Hayhurst, 82, of Parkersburg, passed away, Tuesday, February 4, 2020 in the Camden Clark Medical Center.He was born at Rymer, WV, a son of the late Samuel W. and Iva M. Morgan Hayhurst. Richard was a graduate of Weir High School and was an Army veteran having served during the Cuban Missile Crisis.He was a supervisor at the former Ideal Corrugated Box Company and an active member of the North Parkersburg Kiwanis Club.Richard was especially proud to receive the George F. Hixson award, presented to a Kiwanis member for their generous monetary contributions to their children's fund.Mr. Hayhurst was a twenty year volunteer to the Camden Clark Auxiliary and was a member of the Stout Memorial U.M. Church.Above all, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Charlotte F. Balser Hayhurst, whom he married September 27, 1958, two daughters and four grandchildren: daughter Terri L. Broadwater and husband Mark of Vienna and their daughter, Taylor Broadwater and son, Tyler Broadwater (Sarah); daughter Pamela S. West of Shelby, NC and her children William West and Nicole Riding (Lee) and son, Richard’s only great grandson, Levi Riding; and one brother, Roy Lee Hayhurst (Janet). A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Stout Memorial U.M. church with Reverend Cindy Eakle officiating.Interment will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens.The family will receive friends at the Vaughan Funeral Home 4-8 P.M. Friday and one hour prior to service on Saturday.Friends are requested to consider a charity of choice to remember Richard.
