Rev. Charles Eaton,

September 3, 1927 — January 13, 2017

Rev. Charles Eaton Jr., 89, of Vienna, went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2017. He was born September 3, 1927 at Wadesville to the late Charles Sr. and Norma Ruble Eaton. Charles left school after the 8th grade to help on the family farm. At age 18, he joined the Navy and served on the USS Independence. After the Navy, he had various jobs including working at Viscose.He felt called to preach and became a credentialed minister in the United Methodist Church.He continued his education while pastoring churches and obtained a BA degree from Fairmont State College in 1961. In addition to being a retired minister who preached the Gospel for more than 50 years and pastored more than 30 churches, he was a licensed social worker and retired from the WV Department of Health and Human Services. He also worked at St. Joseph's Hospital in the mental health unit and later worked at Wal-Mart in the Lawn &Garden Department. Charles loved his Lord, his family, the church and his dog, Buffy.He liked hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also enjoyed singing hymns whenever and wherever he had the opportunity. He is survived by his wife Loretta, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, his brothers, Harold of Vienna, Jerry of Elizabeth, Ben (Nancy) of Fort Worth TX, a sister Betty (Duke) Atkinson of Parkersburg, two sons Dan (Janie) of Flushing, MI, and Mark (Julie) of Belpre, OH, five grandchildren Mike Eaton of Saint Marys, OH, John (Hope) Eaton of Ft. Wayne, IN, Chrissy (Brian) Latstetter of Flushing, MI, Bethany and (Steven) Acker of Black Mountain, NC, and Eric Eaton of Belpre, OH, 8 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marian Florence Eaton, brothers Paul, Marvin, Clifford, Gene, and sister Zelma McCrady. Friends and family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life service on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at 2pm at the Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St Parkersburg with Charles's sons Pastor Dan Eaton and Pastor Mark Eaton officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be on Tuesday January 17, 2017 from 4-8 pm and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
