Naomi Jean Cupp passed away after a brief illness on May 21, 2017.A beloved sister, aunt, god mother, friend, and nurse was a native of West Union, WV and lived in Parkersburg, WV. Jean was the daughter of the late Paul D. Cupp and Naomi R. (Cox) Cupp of West Union born in 1930 at the family home place.She was a 1948 graduate of Doddridge County High School serving as a class officer.She continued her academic studies completing her R.N. as a 1952 graduate of the St. Joseph School of Nursing in Parkersburg, WV.She then led a distinguished career in nursing and hospital administration serving 42 years as the longest serving nurse at the former St. Joseph Hospital and involved with several state and national professional associations. As an active Roman Catholic, Jean was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish of Parkersburg and a long-time member of the Rosary Altar Society.She was a past officer and current member of the St. Joseph School of Nursing Alumnae Association.She devoted her time to her family and friends through travel, gardening, creativity, hospitality, and generosity.She is survived by three siblings: James B. (Gail) Cupp of Attleboro; MA, Nellie B. Cupp of Clarksburg, WV; and Ray E. (Georgianna) Cupp of Clarksburg, WV, sister-in-law Frances McFerren and family of Weirton, WV. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews: Jason (Patti) Cupp, Michael (Beth) Cupp, Paul (Kari) Cupp, Earl Daugherty, Tamela Fazio, Jim Heck, and Sharon (Michael) LaClair.Her great nieces and nephews Paul, Amanda, Charles, Taylor, and Allison Daugherty; Erica Helmick, Ryan Freeman, and Casie James and their families; Zoe and Zachary LaClair; Raegan and Avery Cupp; Meghan and Mitchell Cupp; Kaitlyn, Haley, and Mariel Cupp; Sarah (Michael) Deasy, David and Daniel Heck and their families.She has many friends and extended family that she greatly valued.She was ever thankful for her best friend Faybelle Coyne’s family for their friendship and care through the years. Many thanks to Jean’s great-niece, Amanda Daugherty, who was her in-home caregiver. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Paul Franklin Cupp, sister-in-law Patty Cupp, brother-in-law James Daugherty, niece Rebecca Cupp Heck, maternal grandparents Claude & Sally Freeman Cox, and paternal grandparents Jacob S. & Rebecca Shreves Cupp.The family shares their thanks for the staff of Comfort Keepers, Gentiva, and Marietta Memorial especially the Belpre Campus for their care over the past year. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 26th at Vaughan Funeral Home, with a Vigil Service conducted by Deacon Doug Deem at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial with Celebrant Father John Rice will be 10:30 AM Saturday, May 27th at St. Francis Xavier Parish of Parkersburg followed by grave side service and interment at 2:30 PM at Crystal Lake Masonic Cemetery in West Union, WV.
