Mildred L. "Midge" Atkinson

Mildred L. “Midge” Atkinson, 90, of Washington, WV went to be with the Lord and her Beloved husband, Jim on July 13, 2016. She was born March 23, 1926 in Fairmont, WV to the lateGeorge and Susan Frances Stallman Crone.She was a member of the Cedar Grove United Methodist Church and was a homemaker.Mildred was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother and Friend and never met a stranger. She is survived by a son, James Richard (Angie) Atkinson, two daughters, Patricia Ann (Brooks) Layman and Juanita M. (Bill) Ferguson all of Parkersburg.Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Angela Dawn Bennett, Kati Lynn Arthur, Bill, Michael, and David Ferguson, Crystal and Jimmy Atkinson and Felicia Lewis, thirteen great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Atkinson, two brothers, Columbus William “Bill” Crone and George Crone. The family would like to express a special thanks to Marietta Memorial Hospital and The Willows Center for the excellent care of their Mother. Memorial Donations may be directed to The Gideon’s for the purchase of bibles. Friends and Family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Kimes Funeral Home, 521-5th St., Parkersburg, WV with Reverend Beth Peters officiating.Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.Visitation will be on Friday, July 15, 2016 from 3pm to 7pm and one hour prior to funeral services on Saturday from 1pm to 2pm.
