Mary Dell Horton Lockhart Hinkle, 77, of Vienna, WV passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at her residence.
She was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on May 2, 1945, a daughter of the late Robert O. and Leafy Leola Swiger Horton.
Mary was a graduate of PHS Class of '63. She worked at Kroger prior to retiring from the U.S. Navy Reserve after 24 years of service as a 1 st Class Builder and in the Navy Seabees NMCB14. After retirement she worked part-time at Home Depot.
She was a master woodworker and a Cub Scout leader for her sons. Mary attended the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Vienna and was a member of the American Legion Post 15.
Surviving her include her four children, Robert Lockhart (Melanie) of Vienna, Mary Lauer (Mark) of Rossford, Ohio, William Lockhart (Sandra) of Puerto Rico, and Amy Summers of Vienna; siblings, Dennis Horton (Elsie) of Belleville, WV, and David Horton (Nisa) of North Carolina; sister-in-law, Kay Frances Brown-Horton of Parkersburg; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by granddaughter, Sabrina Don; four brothers, Robert Horton, Charles Horton, Danny Horton, and James Horton; two sisters, Marjorie Horton, and Carol Day; nephew, Danny Horton Jr; and niece, Mandy.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 708, 54 th Street, Vienna, WV 26105.
Memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bill Dunfee officiating. Military honors will be performed by American Legion Post 15.
Mary had entrusted her final requests with Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home & Crematory.
