Martha J. Heaney, 95, of Parkersburg passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the West Virginia Masonic Home. She was born in Fairmont, WV a daughter of the late Wayne B. and Gladys V. Fulton Bartholow. Along with her husband, Bud Heaney, she owned and operated Market Motors until his retirement. She was a member of Parkersburg Garden Club, League of Women voters, Order of the Eastern Star, and Ben Bay Grotto where she enjoyed dancing and visiting families of Shriners. She was a historian and enjoyed sharing her knowledge of local lore. Martha attended many antique auctions and sales in years past and collected antiques. She was an excellent seamstress, designing and making beautiful clothing for herself and Peggy. An avid outdoor person, she had a great love of birds, with numerous feeders in her large yard, and little creatures. She had a large outdoor kitchen where she would cook during the summertime as she hosted parties for her daughter and friends, including large parties for the Sports Car Club. She sold her large property on Emerson Avenue to Hardee's when she could no longer care for it. She was nurtured and well taken care of until her death at the Masonic Home in Parkersburg. She is survived by grandson, Matthew A. Simmons of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and several nieces and nephews, including Sandra Burley of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Denzil "Bud" Heaney, infant daughter, Dianne Heaney, daughter, Margaret "Peggy" Heaney Simmons and four brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 19, 2014 at the Vaughan Funeral home, 1010 Murdoch Avenue, Parkersburg with Reverend Sandy Runnion officiating. Burial will be in the Pisgah Cemetery, Monongalia county. Visitation will be from noon until time of service.
