Leward Lyle McPherson of Parkersburg passed away at his home on the morning of Sunday, July 20th, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. Lyle was born in Parkersburg, W.Va. on September 7, 1937, the third of five children of the Reverend Carl A. McPherson and Ina Gay McPherson (Moncrief).Growing up in Parkersburg and residing there all his life, he had many family members and friends in the area. Lyle was a graduate of the Parkersburg High School Class of 1956.After high school, Lyle joined the United States Air Force and served much of his active duty time as an air policeman at the Woodbridge Air Force Base in Suffolk, England.While stationed in England, Lyle met his life partner, Pearl Serena McPherson (Myhill) of Ipswich, Suffolk England.They were married on October 11, 1958 and recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary.At the conclusion of his military service, Lyle and Pearl returned to Parkersburg and had two sons, Roderey Grant "Rod" McPherson,of Sylvania, Ohio and Stuart Lee McPherson, deceased. Lyle spent the majority of his working life as a self-employed developer in the Parkersburg area and built many residential and commercial properties.Early in his career, he had his own plumbing and heating company and worked at Marbon Chemical.Lyle had many interests outside of work including spending time with friends,wintering in Cape Coral, Fla., golfing, hunting, traveling, WV Mountaineer sports, and watching his grandchildren grow. In addition to his parents, Lyle was preceded in death by a son, Stuart McPherson; a brother, Richard McPherson; and a sister, Diane Bennett.He is survived by his wife, Pearl S. McPherson of Parkersburg; a son, Roderey G. "Rod' McPherson and his wife, Sunhui;and two grandsons,Bradley C. McPherson and Wesley S. McPherson, all of Sylvania, Ohio.Additionally, he is survived by two sisters, Donna Jean Sprouse and Jane Barker of Parkersburg; two uncles and aunts; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services with military honors will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 26, 2014 atStout Memorial U.M. Church, 3329 Broad Street, Parkersburg with Dr. Roger L. Smith officiating.Parkersburg Post 15 American Legion will conduct military rites.Entombment will follow in the family mausoleum at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.Visitation will be at the Vaughan Funeral Home, 1010 Murdoch Avenue, Parkersburg from 6-8 P.M. Friday and at the church one hour prior to services on Saturday.
