L. Kathleen Schmidt

L. Kathleen Schmidt, 92, of Belpre, Ohio and formerly of Clarksburg, WV, passed away Wednesday, August 16. 2017 in the Marietta Memorial Hospital. Miss Schmidt was born May 4, 1925 at St. Clara, Doddridge County, WV, a daughter of the late Dorsey Melvin and Julia Margarethe Krenn Schmidt. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Lila Chapman and two brothers, Forrest "Bud" Schmidt and infant brother, Joseph Schmidt.She is survived by several cousins, including Anna(Tom) Doak,Ancil (Linda) Schmidt, Marilyn (Charles) Barnes and Carolyn (Bob) Bass. Kathleen will be remembered as a very elegant and dignified lady.Family and friends were very important to her and no occasion would pass without her sharing a thought or a card.She was very mindful of her Doddridge County and W.Va. heritage and was very proud that her great grandfather, Johann Heinrich Schmidt was the farmer model for the West Virginia State Seal. She retired after forty years of service to the Sears and Roebuck Company in both Clarksburg and Parkersburg, retiring as personnel manager.She was a member of Christ Lutheran church in Vienna, WV and was a former member of St. Johannes Lutheran Church at St. Clara. A Memorial service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church, 4513 Grand Central Avenue, Vienna, WV with Reverend Emilie Theobald-Rowlands and Reverend Erik Nielsen officiating.Friends are invited to visit one hour prior to service.Interment of Miss Schmidt's cremated remains will be in the Masonic Memorial Park, Rt. 18 North, West Union.To those choosing to remember Kathleen, please consider a donation to either Christ Lutheran or St. Johannes Lutheran Church.
