L. "Gordy" Blair

L. "Gordy" Blair, 83, of Washington, WV, passed away Friday, October 9, 2015 at his residence.He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late Kenneth P. and Willa G. Deem Blair. Mr. Blair was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and retired from Iron Workers Local 787, Parkersburg.He was a lifetime member of Parkersburg Lodge B.P.O.E #198 and especially enjoyed seeing and feeding the birds and squirrels that visited his yard on a regular basis. Survivors include one sister, Barbara J. Sprouse of Granite Falls, NC; two brothers, Larry B. Blair (Velda) of Parkersburg and Richard E. Blair of Valrico, FL; Sue Riel of Parkersburg who Gordy considered like a daughter and Missie Sevy of Vincent, Ohio who assisted as a caregiver. In addition to his parents, Gordy was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life, Margaret Ann Best Blair in 1990; one sister, Violet Dillon and one brother, Eugene F. Blair. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the Vaughan Funeral Home, 1010 Murdoch Avenue, Parkersburg with Pastor Sandy Runion officiating.Burial will follow in the Creighton Ridge Cemetery, Graysville, Ohio at 2:00 P.M. Friends may visit the Vaughan Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday.
