Kermit L. Somerville

Kermit L. Somerville, 101, of Parkersburg passed away January 16, 2020 at Camden Clark Medical Center. He was born May 11, 1918 in Jackson County, WV, he is the son of the late Karl Somerville and Clara Archer Somerville Balderson and step father Sylvester Balderson. He was a WWII veteran and he served in North Africa and Italy. He retired after 35 years of service from O’ Ames Company. He attended church when able at 14th Ave Gospel Mission. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family. Kermit was also a great story teller. Left behind to cherish his memory, one half-brother, Lawrence Balderson (Bobbi) of Parkersburg; son in law, Jim Wine (Pam) of Elizabeth, WV; grandchildren, Todd Wine (Kelley), Lisa Carpenter (Michael) and Angela Root; great grandchildren, Whitney Wine, Cody Kerns, Adam and Noah Carpenter, Austin Root and Chelsey Donley (Tyler); great great grandchildren, Madison, Trace, Peyton, Charlie Ann, Cali, Zyriah, Slayden and JT; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and step father, he was preceded in death by his wife Nellie Somerville; only child, Evelyn Somerville Wine; grandchild, James Eric Wine; brothers, Chandis and Warren Somerville; half-brothers, Delbert, Russell, Vernon Balderson; step brothers, Nolan, Haril and Albert Balderson; half-sisters, Wanda Church and Emogine Balderson; step sisters, Alice Bowers and Nelda VanFossen. The family would like to thank Ohio Valley Health Care for their excellent care of Kermit during his illness. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Kimes Funeral Home 521 5th St. Parkersburg, WV 26101 with Pastor Tim Burch officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen South Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, January 20, 2020 from 1-3 and 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
