Karl J. Hannan

Karl J. Hannan, 93, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Camden Clark Medical Center. Karl was born December 9, 1923 at Parkersburg, a son of the late Thomas S. and Martha C. Adams Hannan. He was a 1942 graduate of Parkersburg High School, where he excelled in football, track and wrestling.After high school, he attended Ohio University for two years when his father passed away and he returned home to operate the family business, Hannan Transfer Co.Retiring after 57 years, Karl spent his entire working life in the motor transportation business.He was a life-long active member of the Memorial Church of The Good Shepherd, where he was baptized on March 12, 1930.He was also a U.S. Navy veteran. He is survived by his daughter, Bev Hannan Estep of Vienna, W.Va.; a step-son, Jim Weaver (Andrea); two step-daughters, Connie Patton (Bob) of Belpre, Ohio and Carol Powell (Frank) of Vienna, W.Va.; a granddaughter, Lauren Estep; eight step-grandchildren, Chris, Kim, Scott, Billy, Stephanie, Angie, Jimmy and Nikki; and fifteen step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in 2009, by his wife of 41 years, Emma P. Hannan; an infant child; three sisters, Margaret, Virginia and Geraldine; two brothers, Ralph and Dale; and a step-daughter, Cheryl Williams. At Karl's request, there will be no visitation.A graveside burial service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with The Reverend MarjorieBevans officiating.
