June Swesey Merritt

June Swesey Merritt, 82, of Parkersburg passed away on December 19, 2016 at Camden Clark Medical Center. She was born August 29, 1934 in Parkersburg the daughter of James Monroe and Gertrude Berry Swesey.She was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and was a member of Stephenson United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for 60 years.She spent many years assisting children in receiving care from Shriner’s Hospital and gathered coats for Jefferson Elementary School students. She is survived by a son, John Merritt of Parkersburg and a daughter, Joyce Merritt (Matthew Koziatek) of Lexington, KY and a step-daughter, Sharon Bleehaus of Watertown, NY, four grandchildren, Cody, Hailee and Aiden Merritt and Kendal Koziatek, one sister, Charlotte Deem of Williamstown, WV, several nieces and nephews including two special nieces, Sandy Boggess and Pam Williamson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Bertram "Bert" Merritt, one brother, Calvin Swesey, three sisters, Eleanor Leep, Ethel Hardman and Dorothy Bindas. Friends and Family are invited to attend the funeral service on Friday Dec 23 at 11AM at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St., Parkersburg with Reverend Kent Lowther officiating.Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.Visitation will be on Thursday December 22 from 4 to 6 PM at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
