Joyce D. Hess

Joyce D. Hess, 67, of Cutler passed away May 3, 2015 in Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was born December 23, 1947 in Canton, Oh., a daughter of the late Olis Forrest and Pearl Marie Webb Epling. Joyce was a registered nurse and she especially enjoyed psychiatric care; she had worked in many hospitals, including Canton and Columbus, Oh., Charlottesville, Va., and Marietta Memorial Hospital. She was fascinated with jewelry making and was a member of Layman United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, D. Glenn Hess; two daughters, Cassandra Donnelly of Norfolk, Va. and June M. Hess of Richmond, Va.; one son, Shawn Slodysko of Canton, Oh.; four sisters, Linda Hollendonner (Carl) of Atwater, Oh., Lou Caudill (Dan) of Louisville, Oh., Elaine Huth (Rick) of Vero Beach, Fl., and Rose Bresson of North Canton, Oh.; three brothers, Joe Bresson (Dawn) of Monkton, Md., Chuck Bresson (Jane) of Canfield, Oh., and Bernie Bresson (Christy) of Louisville, Oh.; two grandchildren, Joey Slodysko of Canton, Oh. and Nina Slodysko of Norfolk, Va.; one great-granddaughter, Lilah Slodysko of Norfolk, Va.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Bob Bresson. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at the Layman United Methodist Church, Cutler, Oh., with Reverend Louis Whitney officiating. At the convenience of the family, her ashes are to be scattered in the Limber Lost Forest section of Shenandoah National Park.
