John Coleman Elder

John Elder, 62, of Parkersburg passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019 in the Camden Clark Medical Center.John was born June 12, 1957 in Columbus, Ohio a son of the late Stanley W. Elder and Sue Frances Gilchrist Elder. John was employed for a total of thirty one years at the Parkersburg YMCA.He enjoyed Warhammer gaming and was an avid sports fan, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes.John was a 1976 graduate of PHS and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Vienna. Survivors include two sisters, Joan Aders (Otis Harris) of Harrisburg, PA and Julie Bourque (Gary) of Winchester, Kentucky; a niece and nephew. In addition to his parents, a sister, Jennifer Hughes preceded him in death. Funeral Mass will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Vienna with celebrant Father John Gallagher.The family will be present to receive friends one our prior to service.A celebration of Life will follow at John's favorite eatery, The North End Tavern on Emerson Avenue.A private burial will be held at a later date at Mt Carmel Cemetery beside his parents and sister, Jennifer.
