Jean Eleanor Black Anthony, 90, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 10, 2024, at Wyngate Senior Living.
She was born July 27, 1934, a daughter of the late Richard and Ethel Gates Black.
Jean worked for Merle Norman at the Grand Central Mall and later retired as manager from Monfried Optical. She enjoyed decorating her home and celebrating holidays with extended family. Jean had an artistic eye and enjoyed working with her hands to create many elaborate designs. As a very kind and forgiving person, she was an inspiration to her family. Jean was a member of the South Parkersburg Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Carla Johns (Richard) and Melanie Lester (Steve); son, Kenneth McIntire (Joyce); daughter-in-law, Laurie McIntire; stepdaughter, Kathy Anthony; step sons, Michael Anthony and Randy Anthony; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frederick McIntire; second husband, Gale Anthony; and son Craig McIntire.
Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2024, at Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home with Pastor Adam Paff officiating. Services will conclude with interment in Evergreen South Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service Monday.
