James “Jim” “Pop” Roten, Sr., loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, age 90, passed into the Loving Arms of his Savior surrounded by his family at his home on February 27, 2017.He was born June 1, 1926 in Mullens, WV to the late Lee Roy and Matilda Bennett Roten.He was owner of Community Supermarket in Glenville, WV was a member of the Liberty St. Church of God and was a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII finishing his military career with the United Nations.He was a past member of the Lions Club, a Deacon in First Baptist Church at Glenville was active in I-79 Civic Transportation Committee, enjoyed family, hunting/fishing, card games, WVU sports and church activities. He is survived by two sons, James E. “Rusty” (Sharon) Roten, Jr. of Parkersburg and Thomas L. (Leigh Anne) Roten of Barboursville, WV, three daughters, Kathryn L. Roten of Parkersburg, Karen S. (James) Skidmore of South Charleston and Kimberly J. (Philip) Hundley of St. Clairsville, OH, eleven grandkids, Andrea Massey, Rebekah M. (Tony) Postlewait, James E. (Erin) Roten, III, Michael D. Roten, P. Adam (Ali) Hundley, Andrew C. (Ashlin) Hundley, Allie E. Hundley, Braden T. Roten, Joshua C. Roten, Samuel D. Roten and Sutton I. Roten, seven great-grandkids, Taylor L. Massey, Lauren E. Massey, Cameron M. Holly, Rowen I. Postlewait, Caethon A. Postlewait, James E. Roten, IV and Adele M. Roten. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Janeth L. Roten of 59 years, one sister, Mary Ranson and one grandson, Jared L. Skidmore. The family would like to express a special thanks to Camden Clark 1-E and the staff of Amedysis Hospice Team, and the numerous in home caregivers for their loving care. Friends and Family are invited to attend the Memorial Service on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Kimes Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 521 5th St., Parkersburg with Pastor Brian Harrell officiating.A visitation with the family will be on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.There will be Military Rites by the American Legion at the funeral home.
