James E. Prunty

James E. Prunty, Jr., 74, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away peacefully after a sudden illness June 8, 2021 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. He was born July 26, 1946 in Baltimore, Maryland, a son of the late James E., Sr. & Juanita F. Payton Prunty. James was a US Marine Corps vet having served in Vietnam.He was retired as a chemical technician from RJF.He enjoyed reading, working on computers and fishing. He was a member of VFW Post 5108, Marietta. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Jenny Lockhart Prunty; three sons, Clayton Prunty (Jody) of Parkersburg, Matthew Prunty (Regina Lake) of Parkersburg and Bert Gayheart (Katelyne) of Mineral Wells; seven sisters, Jene Prunty, Elaine Guthrie (Cam), Donna Wright (Gary), Shirley Murray (Tommy), Denise King, Angela Hackney (Ronnie) and Regina Nuzum (Paul); one brother, Frank Prunty (Becky); and six grandchildren, Brandon, Lacey, Brendan, Jasmine, Amber and Ashley. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a son, Aaron Prunty; a sister, Eileen Simmons; and a daughter-in-law, Miranda Kay Prunty. The family will receive friends from Noon – 4 p.m. Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Vaughan-Kimes Funeral Home, 521 – 5th Street, Parkersburg to share memories of James.Per James wishes, cremation services will follow.
