James Paul Hopkins

James Paul Hopkins, 72, of Little Hocking, Ohio passed away November 11, 2018, at Hickory Creek of Athens following a long illness. He was born on December 7, 1945 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to the late William R. and Fern McLain Hopkins Upon graduation from Parkersburg High School he enlisted in the Air Force and spent time in Vietnam.After being discharged from the Air Force, he served with the 1092nd West Virginia National Guard and retired after 20 years of service.He retired from Eramet in 2006 with 37 years of employment.He was an avid hunter and enjoyed spending time with his friends hunting in Doddridge County. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol Jones Hopkins, a son Jeffrey (Jamie) of Westminster, Maryland, a daughter Jennifer (Chad) of Little Hocking, Ohio, seven grandchildren Zachary, Chase, Makenzie, and Kathryn of Westminster, Maryland and Devan, Austin, and Chandler of Little Hocking, Ohio. He is also survived by a brother, Dana Hopkins of Vienna, West Virginia, and a sister Tamela (James) of Destin, Florida. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by maternal grandparents Harry and Letha McLain, paternal grandparents Thomas and Clara Hopkins, a sister-in-law Jean Hopkins, and several aunts and uncles. The family would like to express their appreciation for the care he received while in the Renaissance Unit at Hickory Creek of Athens and services provided by Ohio Health Hospice. Per his wishes, there will not be a public viewing or service.
