James Edward (Jim) Cunningham, 73, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away January 13, 2022 at Camden Clark Medical Center.Surely, he is in heaven for he went through hell on earth, always with a smile on his face and he dearly loved his brothers and sisters and all who knew him and will be sadly missed by all. Jim was born January 11,1949 in Parkersburg and was the son of the late Alice Della Cunningham. He was a 1966 graduate of Parkersburg High School and retired from A.B. Chance.He enjoyed music and playing his guitar. He loved his country greatly and was a proud US Army veteran of the Vietnam War where he served as a helicopter door gunner and earned the Bronze Star and Air Medal Oak Leaf Cluster. Those left to cherish his memory include seven sisters, Gloria Hays, Barbara Looney (Tom), Dianne Powell (Gilbert), Deborah Smith, Vicki Cunningham, Cheryl Cunningham and Kimberly Matheny; and two brothers, William and Jeffrey Cunningham, with whom he was very close. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Cunningham. It was Jim’s wishes that there be cremation and no visitation or ceremony.The Vaughan-Kimes Funeral Home and Crematory, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg is honored to assist the Cunningham Family with arrangements.
