Jack A. Nohe, 83, formerly of Vienna, W.Va., passed away Friday, November 21, 2014 at Harmer Place, Marietta, Ohio. Jack was born October 3, 1931 at Belleville, W.Va., a son of the late Dock A. and Ora Sheppard Nohe. He was a 1950 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force for 20 years during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars.He retired in 1991 from the Parkersburg Fire Dept. after 18 years service as the department's mechanic at Station 5 on Blizzard Drive. Jack helped organize the Wood Co. Fire Fighters Assoc. and was its first president.He was a life member of the Non-commissioned Officers Assoc., founding member and the first Commander of the V.F.W., Vienna Post 8127, and member of the American Legion, Parkersburg Post 15. He was an honorary member of the Vienna Fire Department after retiring in 1984 as the department's supply sergeant.He was recently honored by the Sons of the American Revolution as its Fireman of the Year for 2014. He is survived by his four children, Cathy A. Smith of Vienna, W.Va.,Jeffrey Nohe of Parkersburg, W.Va., Laura G. Foster (Chuck) of Vienna, W.Va. and Ronald "Greg" Nohe (Kim) of Marietta; Ohio; four brothers, Emerson "Joe" Nohe (Martha) of Florida, Paul "Pete" Nohe (Delores) of Belleville, W.Va., Ronald Nohe of Belleville, W.Va. and Ovie "Ed" Nohe of Parkersburg, W.Va.; fourteen grandchildren, Stephen, Julie, Steve, Brittany, Holly, Lindsay, Clinton, Allison, Andrew, Adam, Sara, Lacey, Austyn and Taylor; and four great-grandchildren, Caroline, Lucas, Zane and Jett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Buck Nohe; son, Stephen Nohe; two sisters, Margie Rawson and Lena Pifer; granddaughter, Stephanie L. Nohe; and daughter-in-law, Kristy B. Nohe. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, November26, 2014 at the Vaughan Funeral Home, 1010 Murdoch Avenue, Parkersburg, W.Va.Reverend Sandy Runnion will officiate and entombment with military honors by American Legion, Parkersburg Post 15 will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at the funeral home.
