Henry J. Anderson, Jr., 96, a resident of Carehaven of Pleasants, Belmont, W.Va. and formerly of Laurel Creek Rd., Waverly, W.Va. passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at Carehaven of Pleasants. Henry was born January 17, 1919 in Wood County, W.Va., a son of the late James and Nancy Wilson Anderson. He had been a machinist at the former Parkersburg Rig and Reel and had enjoyed farming most of his adult life.He was a proud United States Army Veteran having served during World War II.He enjoyed attending worship services at the First Baptist Church in Parkersburg. He was the last surviving member of his family, but is survived by many friends that will certainly miss him.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruby Antle. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, July 20, 2015 at the Vaughan Funeral Home, 1010 Murdoch Avenue, Parkersburg with Reverend Richard McClure, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.Full military honors will be presented by members of the American Legion, Parkersburg Post 15. Interment will be in the West Virginia National Cemetery at Grafton, W.Va.. Visiting hours will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
