Harvey A. Barger, 89, of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed away Thursday, July 17, 2014 at his residence. Harvey was born October 31, 1924 in Athens Co., Ohio, a son of the late Francis and Otis Morris Barger. He retired from the United States Postal Service in 1987 after 27 years service.He had been a carrier, supervisor, Superintendent of Postal Operations and Postmaster of the St. Marys, W.Va. Office for 4 years.Harvey had received his West Virginia Funeral Directors and Embalmers License in 1951 and was employed with the Vaughan Funeral Home.After his retirement from the postal service, he resumed his employment with Vaughan's, retiring in 2012. Harvey was a WW II Marine Corps veteran and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Loyal Order of Moose, Kiwanis Club of North Parkersburg and the American Legion, Parkersburg Post 15. He is survived by his wife, Mary Anne Noge Barger; and a son, Harvey L. Barger of Puyallup, Wash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Parker. Funeral Services will be 1 P.M. Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Vaughan Funeral Home, 1010 Murdoch Avenue, Parkersburg, W.Va. with Dr. Damon Rhodes officiating.Interment will follow in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens with military honors presented by American Legion, Parkersburg Post 15.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M.
