GREGORY A. WOOD, SR. Gregory Allen Wood, Sr., 66, a forty year resident of Belleville, WV passed away on his 66th birthday at his Beloved Aunt’s home in Parkersburg, WV.He was born in Parkersburg, the eldest son of Ira and Esther Pilchard Wood on November 14, 1951 and had lived in Vienna and Parkersburg before moving to the farm that he and his family loved dearly.He was the grandson of the late Ira and Hazel Watkins Wood, Sr. and the late Clayton C. and Laura King Pilchard.His Loving Brother, Gilbert Lee (Norma) Wood of Williamstown was with him to the end. Greg was a long time employee of the Pete Higgs Roofing Company where he had been a Supervisor for 30 years.He is the father of two sons, Gregory Allen Wood, Jr. (Tammy Ramsey) of Parkersburg and Thomas C. Wood (Candace) Lamp) of Vienna.He is also survived by two step-granddaughters, Megan and M. J., one niece Amanda and Edelene Wood of Parkersburg, his only aunt.Edelene notes that at the age of 8, Greg wrote, illustrated and sold to fellow schoolmates a small book titled “The Life of Tommy Tout”. The Middle Fork of Lee Creek-Rannis Road area of Wood County became his ideal spot to enjoy fishing, hunting, boating, farming and roaming Wood County. His funeral service will be at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St., Parkersburg on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. with Dr. Kurt Busiek of Emmanuel Baptist Church officiating.Burial will follow at Ravenswood Cemetery.Visitation will also be on Friday, November 17, 2017 from 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Online condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.kimesfuneralhome.com
