Garry Dale Myers, 69, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024, at his residence.
He was born November 21, 1954, at Fort Eustis, Virginia, a son of the late Wilson Kemp and Mable Louise Reed Myers.
Garry served his country for 16 years and 18 days in the United States Marine Corps as a field wireman and electrical repairman. After his honorable discharge in 1989, Garry continued serving veterans as a V.A. Clerk in Parkersburg and later as a V.A. Officer in Spencer and Clarksburg. Garry enjoyed bass fishing and spending time with his family, especially teaching his grandchildren life lessons.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 plus years, Kathryn Jean Life Myers; children, Robert Kemp Myers of Parkersburg, Tammala Lynn Fawcett (Matthew) of Parkersburg, Thomas Richard Myers (Courtney) of Clarksburg and Sammatha Ann Myers (Josh Taylor) of Parkersburg; a brother, Donald K. Myers (Ruth) of Washington; 11 grandchildren Brandon Myers, Zachary Skelly, Rachel Skelly, Logan Fawcett, Alexander Fawcett, Natalie Myers, Eleanor Myers, Henry Myers, Nora Shriver, Elliott Taylor and Charlotte Taylor and two great-grandchildren, Isabelle Goble and Madelyn Goble.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Gregory Myers officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Parkersburg. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
