Freda Arleen McVay, 62, of Parkersburg passed away after a courageous fight with cancer on August 20, 2020 at Marietta Memorial Hospital where she was an Organ Donor for Lifeline of Ohio. Freda was born on March 3, 1958 in Radford, VA, she is the daughter of the late George Washington and Mary Louise Hess Buckland. Freda was a RN and had retired from Camden Clark Medical Center and had also worked at Encompass Healthcare. In her younger years she enjoyed swimming, bowling, being in the drum corps and riding motorcycles. She also loved to be with her grandchildren Aiden and Archer Freeland, home decorating, and participating in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Left behind to cherish her memory, is her loving companion Larry Neely of Parkersburg; daughters, Alicia McVay (Bruiser Randolph) of Ripley, WV and Sarah McVay- Freeland (Joshua) of Le Roy, WV;a nephew/ son, Robert Buckland of Edgewater, FL; siblings, Ronald Buckland (Terry) of Ravenswood, WV and Garnette Plumley of Williamstown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother in law, Jack Plumley and niece Samantha Buckland. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Sunday, August 23, 2020 from 2:00 PM- 5:00 PM at Kimes Funeral Home 521 5th St. Parkersburg, WV 26101. Masks and Social Distancing are required.
