Elizabeth Louella “Betty Lou” Milligan Rittenhouse, 77, left this earthly life for her home in heaven on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.Betty was born in Clinton, Tennessee on February 7, 1939 the daughter of Vaughn and Mary Purkey Milligan.She married the love of her life, Oscar Hoyit Rittenhouse on June 26, 1958 in Clinton, Tennessee before moving to Parkersburg, WV in the early 1960s.Betty formerly worked as a waitress at Seddon’s Restaurant in Parkersburg. She was a member of the North End church of Christ of Parkersburg and belonged to the Wild and Wonderful Red Hatter’s with her lifelong friends, Joni Barr and Janet Hightower .“She was a best friend, mom, and sister to all and never met a stranger, a great woman with a big heart.”She enjoyed cooking, gardening, birds, especially humming birds and using her Kindle and Facebook. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years on December 12, 1995, her parents, Vaughn and Mary Milligan, brothers, Ronald Vaughn Milligan, Stephen Leroy Milligan and sister, Linda Milligan Kirk. She is survived by her sons, James A. “Tony” (Helaina) Rittenhouse, Gregory Scott (Cindy) Rittenhouse, both of Parkersburg, Timothy Hoyit (Misty) Rittenhouse of Elizabeth and Michael Rittenhouse of Parkersburg, granddaughters, Becki Thompson, Beth, Katie, Kendra, and Emily Rittenhouse and five great-grandchildren, brothers, Joe (Terri) Milligan, Kenneth (Jeanne) Milligan both of Parkersburg, and sisters, Rosemary (Gary) Peck of Belpre, Ohio and Sharon Abby (Ray) Henderson of Williamstown along with many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 1 p.m. at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St., Parkersburg with Evangelist Steven Haguewood officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm.
