E. Lantz Carrico

E. Lantz Carrico, 90, a WWII Army Veteran who fought at the Battle of the Bulge with the 254th Field Artillery, passed away at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family on Monday, January 20, 2014.He was born in Tunnelton, Preston County, WV on April 27, 1923 to the late Maude and Elmer Carrico. Lantz graduated from Grafton High School where he excelled in football and basketball.He married his high school sweetheart, Audrey Bartlett Carrico on May 5, 1941 and was married almost sixty three years.Audrey preceded him in death in 2004.He was her loving caregiver for over twenty years. Lantz is survived by his second wife, Arleen Phillips Carrico; one son, Joe Carrico (Gina) of Vienna; one daughter, Judy Ball (Bob) of Parkersburg; one brother, Ralph Carrico of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Christopher Carrico (Heather)of Morgantown, Ashley Kibbe (Justin) of Indianapolis, Laura Chamberlain (Curtis) of Cambridge and Rob Ball (Jessica Porter) of Parkersburg; four great grandchildren, McKendree Fox and Harper Kibbe of Indianapolis and Christian and Nicole Ball of Parkersburg; two step great grandchildren, Jackson and Kiera of Morgantown; one stepson, Steve Young (fiancé', Angel Fouty); one step daughter, Debbie Young (Jim Dixon) of Parkersburg; step grandsons, Jason Young (Sarah) and Jeremy Young; many nieces and nephews as well as the Bartlett family which includes three brothers in law and five sisters in law and extended family.In addition to his parents and first wife Audrey, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee and Donald and two sisters, Dorothy and Ruth and a special cousin, Reverend Hugh Boone. Lantz sold Prudential insurance for thirty two years and was a member of their Million Dollar Roundtable. He was a member and past president of the Life Underwriters Training Council and the Lions Club.He was a former member of 7th Street U.M. Church since 1953 and current member along with his wife Arleen of First Baptist Church, Parkersburg.He held many church positions and had also taught Sunday School.Lantz wasan avid Mountaineer fan and love watching them play, attending his final game on September 30th.He bowled on two senior leagues at Emerson, having last bowled in October.He celebrated his 90th birthday in April with a huge party attended by many family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the Vaughan Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Reverend Norman Butler and Dr. David Carrico, his nephew, officiating.Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-9 P.M. Wednesday and one hour prior to service on Thursday.
