Dr. Lee Jonathan Bechtold, 58, of Vienna, W.Va. passed away Friday, September 21, 2018 at his residence following a brief illness.Dr. Bechtold was born July 28, 1960, in Parkersburg, W.Va., the son of the late Lee W. and Jennie Stanar Bechtold. Jonathan is survived by his son, Jonathan David Bechtold and his daughter, Kristin Bechtold; his sister and her husband, Linda and Thomas McCormick; two grandchildren, Jonathan Gage Bechtold and Adalynn Marie Bechtold; and niece, Elizabeth McCormick. Jonathan was born and raised in Parkersburg. He was a member of the Memorial Church of the Good Shepherd and served as an acolyte. In 1978 he graduated from Williamstown High School, where he excelled in both football and basketball. Following graduation, he attended West Virginia University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. He then studied at Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri, and graduated as a Doctor of Chiropractic.He returned to Parkersburg and founded the Bechtold Clinic, which he owned and operated until he moved to Lewisburg, West Virginia to attend the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. He graduated with honors in 1999 and returned to Parkersburg where he worked as a physician serving the Parkersburg community and surrounding area. Jonathan was the founder and co-owner of EZ Care which will be fondly remembered by many patients for the compassionate care provided by Jonathan and his co-workers, and for the large annual carnival and picnic which was planned and sponsored for the children of the area. Jonathan was an avid sports fan and particularly enjoyed attending Pittsburgh Penguins hockey games with family and friends. Although he was a man of many accomplishments, he was a quiet man whose greatest legacy was the love and devotion he provided his family.He provided constant care and support for his parents in their elder years and was actively involved in the lives of his children. The Reverend Marjorie Bevans and The Reverend Arthur L. Bennett, III will officiate private services at the convenience of the family and entombment will be in the family mausoleum at Mount Olivet Cemetery.There will be no visitation.
