Doris Deem Bennon of Parkersburg died November 23, 2019. She was born in Parkersburg March 19, 1924 to Ray H. Deem Sr. and Ethel Allman Deem. She was a member of the 7th Street United Methodist Church for 42 years, where she was active member of the United Methodist Women and Crusaders Sunday School Class. In 1996 she transferred her membership to Stout Memorial United Methodist church, where she was an active member of U.M. Women and Rebecca Circle. She was an active member for 32 years in the Parkersburg Women’s Club and also leader of Girl Scout Troop 74, from Brownies through Seniors. She was president of the Four Rivers Girl Scout Council from 1967-1971. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace J. Bennon; brother, Ray H. Deem Jr; and nephew, David Deem. Surviving are her daughter, Cynthia Bennon, of Huntington; son, James and wife Judith Bennon, of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Christopher Bennon of Marietta, Leah and husband Douglas Thorpe of Vienna, and Elizabeth and husband Jeremy Jones of Houston, Texas; great-grandchildren, Carter and Addison Thorpe and Charlotte and Cora Jones. In keeping with the request of Mrs. Bennon, there will be a private graveside service for the members of her immediate family and her Eagle Pointe family.
