Dora Irene Life Dawson, 88 of Parkersburg, W.Va. passed into the arms of Jesus Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Camden Clark Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 7, 1933 in Gates Ridge, Rockport, W.Va., a daughter of the late Homer Mason Thompson and Missouri L. Young Thompson. Dora was a homemaker for the majority of her life but worked at Misty Manufacturing for a short time.She loved spending time with her family and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Terry (Marla) Life of Mineral Wells; son-in-law, John Carder; step-children, Donnie Dawson and Linda Province; grandchildren, Travis (Jennifer) Carder, Eric (Amanda) Life and Tracie (Hunter) Sams; step-grandchildren, Paul and Adam Province and families; great-grandchildren, Noah, Ashlyn, Brantley, Jonathon, Waylon and Nora; step-great-grandchildren, Kelsey (Brett) and Kaylyn; step-great-great-grandchild, Kason; two brothers, Grover Thompson and Truman (Ruth) Thompson, all of Rockport; one sister, Helen (Russ) Lockhart of Rockport; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Dora was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester Life; second husband, Donald Dawson; daughter, Sheila Life Carder; brother, William (Vera) Thompson; and sisters, Oncie (Ellsworth) Archer, Etta (Bill) Ingram, Nellie (Kermit) Somerville, Chloie (Joe) Batten and Georgia Thompson. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at the Vaughan-Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street, Parkersburg with Pastor John Witmer officiating.Burial will follow at Evergreen North Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 2-4and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, August 3, 2021and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home.
