Dickey Lee Christian

October 31, 1935 — April 24, 2024

Dickey Lee Christian of Parkersburg passed away on April 24, 2024. He was born on October 31, 1935 in Chesapeake, Ohio, the son of the late Chester and Beulah (Rucker) Christian.

Left behind to cherish his memory is his dear wife of 67 years, Leva Lavonda (Doss) Christian; two sons, Ricky Lee (Mary Elizabeth "Beth") Christian and Gary Edward Christian; one daughter, Sherri Lynn Hale;  seven grandchildren, Amber Harris; Saletha and Paul Christian, Megan, James, Dakota, and Brittney Hale; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Hagley; and two granddaughters, Nicole Lea and Heather Grace Christian.

Dickey was a devoted member of the Marrtown Road Church of Christ. Friends and family share that he was known for his loving and kind character. He will be remembered as an avid reader of the newspaper as well as adventure and mystery novels. His other interests include being a Harley Davidson enthusiast, participating in stock car racing and listening to classical music.  Adding to his wide array of talents, Dickey played the trombone in the Chesapeake High School Marching Band, of which he was a 1953 graduate.  More recently he sang with the musical group, the "Treble Makers".

As a teenager, Dickey was given the memorable experience of being able to work on the pit crew for racecar driver, Gene Comstock. He worked most of his life as a crane operator and he retired from Kaiser/ Constellium.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Vaughan Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, WV from 5-8 p.m.  A private family service will take place at the convenience of the family.
