Delmer L. Heater

Delmer L. Heater, 87, of Vienna, passed away at home, Sunday, August 5, 2018.Mr. Heater was born in Mineral Wells, a son of the late Clyde F. and Esta P. Spears Heater.His wife, Isa "Oletta" Hardman Heater preceded him in death in 1997. Delmer retired as a Master Mechanic from Elkem Metals.He served eight years in the U.S. Air Force as a Staff Sergeant, was protestant by faith and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include one daughter, Della M. Garrett and husband Mark of Knoxville, TN; two sons, Rusty L. Heater and wife Monna of Riva, MD and Dennis L. Heater of Vienna; three grandchildren, Angie Sayre and husband Warren, Jeff Garrett and wife Michaela and Maranda Heater; six great grandchildren, Elisha, Benjamin, Lydia and Noel Sayre, Alexander and Jocelyn Garrett; Delmer's best friend, Ellen Hedges of Creston, WV.In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Basil and Burl Heater. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday at the Vaughan Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Delmer's son, Dennis L. Heater officiating. Services will conclude with interment in the Evergreen North Cemetery.American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg will conduct military graveside rites.The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. until Noon and 2 P.M. until 8 P.M. Thursday at the funeral Home.
