Della P. Gillespie

Della Pauline Gillespie, 86, of Parkersburg passed away on April 24, 2021 at her residence with loving family by her side. She was born May 27, 1934, in Wirt County, a daughter of the late William and Amanda Shuman Sidwell. Devoted to her family, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Della was a longtime member of Christ Mission Baptist Church and member of the Nitro Eastern Star. Della had a God giving heart and she loved helping people and putting others before herself. She enjoyed being outdoors basking in God’s creation and taking family pictures. She is survived by her husband, Gail G. Gillespie; and one son, Charles L. Gillespie. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Adrian G. Gillespie; one grandson, Mathew G. Gillespie; seven brothers, Frank, Donald, Freddie, Lester, Harley, Emery and Gervis; five sisters, Minnie Baileys, Della Cummings, Lena Jones, Effie Sidwell and Jane Owens. There will be no visitation. Graveside service will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Duffield Cemetery, Duck, Clay County, West Virginia with Pastor Mark Watkins officiating. Her family wishes to thank everyone at Hospice for all their kindness and compassionate care.
