Daniel B. Dawkins, 77, of Parkersburg, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016 at his residence. Mr. Dawkins was born October 12, 1939 at Parkersburg, a son of the late Delbert and Lucille Wigal Dawkins.He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and was employed by, and retired from, the federal government, serving at various agencies including the Defense Dept. and National Institute of Health.He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.He was a golf enthusiast and when his health did not permit him to play, he loved sitting on the patio at Worthington Golf Course, spending time with old friends. He is survived by his wife, Anna Shook Dawkins; three daughters, Susan Dawkins (Beth) of Pittsburgh, Diane Dawkins and Sharon Dawkins, both of Parkersburg; one son, Daniel Dawkins (Tracy) of Columbus, Ohio; one sister, Joan Coffey of Belpre and her family; three grandchildren, Jason Dawkins, Tara Dawkins and Devin Dawkins; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his beloved beagles, Cookie and Oreo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Terry. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 A.M., Thursday, November 17, 2016 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 532 Market Street, Parkersburg.Father John Rice will be celebrant and interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. onWednesday at the Vaughan Funeral Home, 1010 Murdoch Ave., Parkersburg where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 P.M. For those considering an expression of sympathy, memorials may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Stone Soup Kitchen, 532 Market Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101 or a charity of choice.
