Curtis Howard Root Jr., 80, of Williamstown, WV passed away unexpectedly May 4, 2019 surrounded by family. He lifted his wings from WVU Camden Clark Medical Center toward his heavenly home beyond the sky. He was born October 14, 1938 in Rockport, WV to the late Curtis Howard and Carrie Leona Good Root Sr. He was a Corporate Pilot for Marmac Corp. a Flight Instructor and Private pilot for Rambar Aviation a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran, a Wood County Deputy Sheriff and also had worked at DuPont. He enjoyed collecting thousands of books, loved his grandchildren and was a Jack of All Trades. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years, Sylvia Bauman Root, one son, Curtis Howard Root III and one daughter, Stephanie Imes (John Maidens) all of Williamstown, three grandchildren, Tiffany, Brandon and Isaiah, two brothers, Charlie Root of Williamstown and Carl (Joan) Root of Washington, WV, several nieces, nephews and many friends. There will be a Graveside Service on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens with burial following. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 6 pm to 8 pm and from 9:30 am to 10:30 am on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St., Parkersburg. Donations may be made to charity of choice in Curtis' name.
