Charlotte Ann Deem, 91, of Parkersburg passed away of a sudden illness on October 12, 2019 at Camden Clark Medical Center. She was born December 17, 1927 in Parkersburg the daughter of James Monroe and Gertrude Berry Swesey and was blessed with two children Birtron Deem, Jr. of Parkersburg and Pamela Ann Williamson of Williamstown. She met and married her husband Birtron E. Deem of 54 years, the love of her life, when he returned from the war in Europe. She worked at the Viscose Plant as a weaver in the tire fabric department that was part of the war effort. After the war ended, she worked at May's Dress Shop and ME Enterprises. When her children were grown, she worked for the Board of Education in the hot lunch program at Washington Junior High School then Emerson Elementary School as their baker, retiring from Rayon Grade School with 16 years of service. Charlotte loved all kinds of music, especially the hymns of the church. She was honored, when in her teens, on occasion to sing in the choir at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, then in the choir at Epworth United Methodist Church, where she was a member for many years. She later joined Trinity United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed the Prayer Group Number Seven and the Star of Hope Circle of the United Methodist Women. She is survived by her daughter Pamela Williamson (Daniel); three grandsons Jeffrey Deem, Matthew and Aaron Williamson; great grandchildren Haven and Amelia Deem; seventeen wonderful nieces and nephews including two very close nieces, Sandy Boggess and Joyce Merritt. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Birtron E. Deem; son Birtron E. Deem Jr.; four sisters Ethel Hardman, Dorothy Bindas, Eleanor Leep, and June Merritt; brother Calvin M. Swesey; and her beloved dog Killer. Funeral services will be Friday October 18, 2019 at 12:30 PM at Kimes Funeral Home 521 5th Street Parkersburg, WV 26101 with Pastor Kara Proffitt officiating.
