Carroll Lanier Dunbar

Carroll Lanier Dunbar, 85, of Parkersburg passed away March 29, 2017 at Camden Clark Medical Center.He was born February 18, 1932 in Reedy, WV to the late Otis and Ottie Westfall Dunbar.He was a 1950 graduate of Parkersburg High School and was a U. S. Army veteran serving from 1952 to 1954 as a Medic in the Korean Conflict.He was employed as a Plant Foreman with Union Carbide Plastics in Marietta from which he retired after 27 years of service.Early in his life he also worked at Kroger as a Meat Cutter, John Mansfield in Ravenswood and the American Viscose.Throughout his life he was afarmer raising and trading ponys, cattle and horses. He also restored late model vehicles, owned a trailer sales in Lubeck and was active in trading any of a variety of things. He is survived by his wife, Edith Irene Bibbee Dunbar, a son, Kenneth Dunbar, M.D. and his wife, Robin of Wheeling, WV and a daughter, Karen Marie Barton and her husband, Jeff of Parkersburg.He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jessie Barton, Kalina Jones, Arliss Barton of Parkersburg, Amy, Marc, Eric and McKenna Dunbar of Wheeling, WV, a great-grandchild, Christian Posey of Parkersburg, two sisters, Dot Smith of Rancho Cordova, California, Doris “Babe” Brannon of Parkersburg and a sister-in-law, Dottie Dunbar of Mineral Wells, WV and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by five brothers, Mayford, Worthy “Sonny”, twins Foster and Forrest and Donald Dunbar and a sister, Mildred George and an infant sister. Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 5th St., Parkersburg with Reverend Mike Daniels officiating, burial will follow.Visitation will be on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. also at the funeral home.
